What's the criteria for determing your opponent in GvG?
I apologize if this question has already been asked, but I couldnt find any answers when I used the search function, so here it goes. As the topic states, what is the criteria for determing your opponent in GvG? Is it based on rating? rank? overall wins and losses? is it random? I always assumed it was based on your rating, but recently I noticed my guild would face a team who's rating is at least 300 better than ours. Any insight to this question would help. Thanks in advance.

When you hit enter guild battle anet looks for other teams that are also looking for a match.
They will try and pick a team as close to you as possible, but if no one close to your rank is online then you can play anybody. So its pretty much random. |

random would have been my guess, since it well, seemed like the types of opponents were chosen randomly. if anyone else has anything else to say or add, it would be greatly appreciated

i don't think we're ever played anyone with a rank below us. always been above. once we were about 1100 and we played some in the 200's.... it wasn't a very nice match

That's um....a common misconception ( is that the correct word ? )
The better the guild is, the more often they do gvg, so if you do gvg with a rank 2000 guild, you will have more odds to face someone better than you, because there are 1999 guilds that are more active than your guild. |

The way the system actually works is when you enter, the game looks for a guild at the same or close to the same "rating" as you not rank.
Depending on the time of day and how many guilds are active will decide this more than anything and as time goes by the search expands itself until it finds a battle for you. The longer you wait the larger the gap between guild ratings can be but it can be in either direction. |
